Remyelination

There is a great deal of interest in pursuing treatments that will reverse the MS-induced damage to myelin and oligodendrocytes, the cells that make and maintain myelin in the central nervous system. Research has found that oligodendrocytes may proliferate and form new myelin after an attack. Studies of animal models indicate that some types of antibodies may accelerate remyelination.
