Less Common Symptoms

There are other symptoms — though rare — that you should be aware of. You're not likely to come across them on many lists, but knowing that they are included in the symptom spectrum is important. Less recognized symptoms include:

  • Headache

  • Hearing problems

  • Vertigo

  • Sleep disorders

  • Seizures

Both doctors and patients should be aware that these symptoms can be related to MS, and can typically be controlled with the proper treatment.

All of the symptoms of MS can be distressing, but some cause more trouble than others. It's important to remember, though, that many people with MS do not experience severe enough symptoms to significantly restrict their daily lives.

Alert

Some symptoms of MS may be worsened by increased body temperature, which may be provoked by fever, intense physical activity, or exposure to sun, hot baths, or showers. This worsening of symptoms does not qualify as a true relapse. Once the body's temperature returns to normal, the heat-provoked symptoms typically disappear.
