Reach Out for Support
You may feel alone and isolated with your thoughts after your diagnosis or even during a relapse. It's important to break the ice with your family members or friends and talk about your feelings. Don't keep your feelings bottled up or minimized. Requesting reassurance and emotional support from others can help relieve your tension. There are other ways to find support.
Therapy
It's great to be able to rely on friends and family members, but building a strong support network outside of the circle of our loved ones is also important. Having an unbiased and neutral ear is good for you; it offers you the opportunity to speak with a trained professional who is equipped to guide you through the ups and downs of MS.
Community Outreach Services
These services aid people in developing their personal capacity and potential. Many community service organizations offer programs on wellness, education enrichment, and self-development.
Support
Talking to others who know exactly where you're coming from is not only comforting, it's empowering. Others who have trodden the same path will have great ideas and resources to share and can also offer inspiration.
Get comfortable asking for help. You may be surprised to learn that people like to give. Be specific about your needs, whether it's help with your kids and the housework or just a shoulder to lean on.
