Psychological Triggers

There will always be people who simply rub you the wrong way. Seeing such a person can bring back a flood of memories about your last meeting, including hurtful things you might have said to each other, and you are instantly reminded of all the reasons why that person is no longer on your guest lists. Similarly, places can evoke negative memories, as can objects or songs. Psychological triggers are anything that you see, read, hear, or even smell that triggers a particular reaction.

Can emotional events, such as anger or grief, trigger a migraine? Consider the physiological effect of emotion. Extreme psychological duress can cause stress, which in turn causes physical changes such as increased blood pressure and heart rate. While the emotion itself may not trigger a migraine, its physiological associations can serve as triggers.
