Lonches

Substitute meats and cheeses. Add onions or olive slices.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 6

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 6 large hard rolls
  • ½ pound Monterey jack cheese
  • 1½ cups Red Chili Sauce
  1. Preheat oven to 350°.

  2. Fry the bacon until crisp. Drain off the grease.

  3. Thinly slice the cheese. Split the rolls in half horizontally.

  4. Fill rolls generously with cheese and top with a bacon strip. Close the rolls to form sandwiches and place on a baking sheet.

  5. Put in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes or until the rolls are hot and the cheese is melted.

  6. While the rolls are baking, heat the sauce to bubbling.

  7. Place each filled roll in a soup bowl and ladle ¼ cup of sauce over the top.
