Nogada Sauce

Heat and serve over anything from pork chops to cheese-stuffed jalapeño peppers.

INGREDIENTS | YIELDS 1¼ cups

  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 5 peppercorns
  • ¼ cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons water
  1. Peel the garlic.

  2. Add the walnuts, garlic, peppercorns, and bread crumbs to a food processor or blender. Blend until finely ground.

  3. Add the vinegar to the mixture; stir well. Stir in the sugar and salt. Add just enough water to make a thick sauce.
