Orange Cranberry Sorbet Recipe

This sorbet is for grownups! If you want to make it for kids, just omit the liqueur. The sorbet will freeze harder without it.

COST PER SERVING ► 45¢

SERVES ► 6

  • 1½ cups orange juice
  • 1 cup cranberry juice
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur
  1. In medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of the orange juice with the sugar over medium heat. Cook and stir until sugar dissolves completely.

  2. Remove pan from heat and stir in remaining orange juice, cranberry juice, and orange zest.

  3. Blend in orange liqueur (if using).

  4. Pour mixture into a freezer-proof bowl and place in freezer. Freeze until firm, about 2 hours.

  5. Remove from freezer and beat with electric beater until smooth. Return to freezer and repeat process.

  6. Transfer sorbet to a freezer container and freeze for at least 3 hours before serving.

Nips

Liqueurs are expensive! If you need just a little bit for cooking or baking, save money by purchasing “nips,” or small presentation bottles that contain about 1 ounce, or 2 tablespoons, each. They are also a good way to try liqueur to see if you like it before investing in a larger bottle.
