Grilled Tuna Apple Melts Recipe

These melted sandwiches are open-faced, saving you both money and carbs because you only eat one slice of bread.

  • 1 (6-ounce) can tuna, drained
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • ½ cup chopped apple
  • ¼ cup chopped celery
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 4 slices Artisan Whole Wheat Bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  1. In medium bowl, combine tuna, onions, apple, celery, mustard, and mayonnaise and mix gently but thoroughly.

  2. Preheat broiler. On broiler pan, place bread slices and spread with butter. Broil for 2–4 minutes or until bread is toasted.

  3. Turn bread slices over. Top each with a slice of cheese, then divide the tuna mixture and place on top. Top with another slice of cheese.

  4. Broil sandwiches 6″ from heat source for 3–6 minutes, watching carefully, until the cheese melts and tuna mixture is hot. Serve immediately.
