Until the 1990s, the workplace was a world of its own where most people spent most of their waking hours. You arrived at a certain time, stayed a certain amount of time, and clocked out at a certain time each day. Then technology liberated workers from that routine. Today, work is something you do. Where you do it — and sometimes even how you do it — is often not so important. The people who report to you may work in satellite offices in different locations, telecommute from home, or share jobs. It's a brave new universe out there!
