1 large Golden Delicious apple, peeled, cored, and diced

¼ cup Muir Glen Organic Frozen Apple Juice Concentrate

¾ cup cold water

4 apricots, peeled (optional) and pitted

1 large banana, peeled and sliced

¾ cup plain nonfat yogurt

1 tablespoon honey

  • Add the apple, apple juice concentrate, water, apricots, and banana to a blender or food processor; process until smooth. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Add to ice-cream freezer and freeze according to manufacturer's directions.

  • If you're not using an ice-cream freezer, pour the mixture into ice cube trays treated with nonstick spray; freeze until firm. If your blender can make shaved ice, transfer the cubes to the blender and process.

Otherwise, transfer to a chilled bowl and beat with an electric mixer until the mixture is whipped.

Sensible Soft Drinks

Soft drinks are notoriously high in sodium. You can still have your fizzy drinks and have them sodium-free if you add ¼ cup of your favorite sodium-free frozen fruit juice concentrate to a glass and add ¾ cup of seltzer or carbonated water. (Do not use club soda because it is not sodium-free; using club soda would add about 40 milligrams of sodium to what would otherwise be a sodium-free drink.)
