Peanut-Butter-Banana Skewered Sammies

You can find low-fat and no-salt peanut butters on the market. Natural peanut butters are a good choice because they don't contain trans fat.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup natural no-salt peanut butter
  • 8 slices Honey-Wheat Sesame Bread
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  1. Spread peanut butter on one side of each slice of bread.

  2. Slice bananas, and as you work, sprinkle with lime juice.

  3. Make sandwiches by putting the bananas on the peanut butter and combining slices.

  4. Butter the outsides of the sandwiches. Heat grill and cook sandwiches until bread is crisp and golden brown.

  5. Remove from grill, cut into quarters, and skewer on wood or metal skewers. Serve immediately.

Dual-Contact Grill

The indoor grill (one brand name is George Foreman Grills) is a wonderful appliance that can help reduce fat intake. The grills are slanted with ridges, so fat runs off, especially when grilling sandwiches, burgers, and meat. Read the directions carefully and be sure to clean the grill very well after each use.
