Orange-Vanilla Smoothie

This smoothie can be varied in so many ways. Use pineapple yogurt, pineapple nectar, and crushed pineapple instead of the orange; use your imagination!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1½ cups orange yogurt
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 1 orange, peeled and sliced
  • ¼ cup vanilla-flavored whey protein
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 ice cubes
  1. Place yogurt, orange juice, orange, whey protein, and vanilla in blender or food processor; blend or process until smooth.

  2. Add ice cubes; blend or process until thick.

  3. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Whey Protein

Whey protein, an isolate of this component of milk, is lactose-free, high in protein, and almost cholesterol-free. It may help reduce high blood pressure and lower cholesterol. You can stir it into smoothies, add it to hot cocoa, and add a spoonful or two to muffin batters and bread dough.
