History of Salad Dressing

Salad dressing is the modern adaptation of simple sauce, and sauces date back to ancient times. The Chinese have been using soy sauce in their cooking for more than 5,000 years, and the Babylonians used oil and vinegar more than 2,000 years ago. Romans would dress their salads with salt, while Egyptians preferred oil, vinegar, and Oriental spices.
