Follow Your Heart and Be There for Her

When caring for someone with breast cancer, understand that your intuition and heart will speak to you and help you decide what is best to do for your loved one. Caring for others is not an exact science with dos and don'ts, but only a gut feeling of what one should do in the face of illness and how to reach out to someone you love. Being in tune with your gut and your heart will assist you in the discovery of how to help your loved one. It may be a trial and error approach but one that will work as long as you listen to your heart.

Being present for someone, and being flexible and available to help in any way that your loved one has requested or accepted from you is the best way to ease the pain. Walking alongside that person and just saying to your loved one that you will be there for her is the best way to show your love and concern. Being genuine in your approach to help with your heartfelt efforts will be appreciated by those who are going through the breast cancer journey. Be cautious not to be of false cheer — that is not what your loved one is seeking. She simply wants the support, love, and caring expressions that only you can give. Be generous with your time and ability to serve during this time and it will strengthen the bond with your loved one and give you the inner peace of knowing that you have made the road a little easier for your loved one during her breast cancer journey.
