Do What You Enjoy Best
Doing what you enjoy best may never be as hard as it is for you when you are going through breast cancer treatments. It may be difficult to identify your sources of enjoyment once your life has been changed by your diagnosis. Your treatments may put a temporary halt to your favorite activities. For example you may be an active person who works out three to five times a week at a local gym. But the side effects of cancer treatments may force you to contemplate a slightly different path, such as yoga or Pilates, which will be discussed in Chapter 11. Discovering new ways to exercise your body and mind with meditation, walking in a local park, enjoying nature, going to the beach, swimming, or golfing all can be part of your recovery as long as you are mindful of your limitations and seek medical advice if you have any concerns. The medical profession recognizes the power of how doing the things you most enjoy may stimulate the immune system and often recommends that you incorporate them into your breast cancer treatment. It is healthy to participate in those things that bring you the most joy during your treatments. Actively seek opportunities to do what you enjoy most. It will benefit your breast cancer treatment as well as your general sense of well-being and health during treatment.
