Examine Your Decision

Once you decide on your breast cancer treatment after examining all the pros and cons of your available choices, allow the whole breast cancer situation to sink in. You may want to write down the pros and cons of each of your choices and examine them on paper. Then just sit with it. Let it be present in your mind, body, and spirit and decide how it feels to you and what your inner self is telling you. Look at your decision. Does it reflect a pattern for you in how you have made other important decisions in your life? When one looks at past patterns and compares them to one's present circumstances, a similarity emerges that may help you draw on those resources you found helpful in the past.

Essential

It is said that 10 percent of life is what happens to you and 90 percent is what you decide to do with it. It is important to decide within yourself how you propose to live with your breast cancer experience.

Reflecting on your decision is important. Reflection can help you change the old patterns if you find them to be unhealthy. Or you can draw from those experiences and resources that were successful and have worked for you. Look at where you are in your life, whether you are single, married, have children, your career goals, hobbies, and what you enjoy in life. Prioritize your needs and look at your future goals for cancer treatment and beyond.
