Latin-to-English Translations

  • Latrī nem capite, canē s, nēeffugiat! Catch the robber, dogs! Don't let him get away! (or … so that he doesn't get away!)

  • Canibus imperā ipse ut latrī nem capiant nē effugiat. I myself ordered the dogs to catch the robber so he wouldn't get away.

  • Latrī nem capiant canē s. Ita n effugiat. Let the dogs catch the robber. That way he won't get away.

  • Metuī latrī effugiat. I'm afraid the robber will get away.

  • Vereor ut canēs latrī nem capiant. I fear that the dogs won't catch the robber.

  • Utinam canēs latrī nem capiant! I hope the dogs catch the robber!

  • Nisi canēs latrī nem cē pis-sent, effū gisset. If the dogs hadn't caught the robber, he would have gotten away.

  • Nesciī utrum canēs latrī nem capiant an effugiat. I don't know whether the dogs will catch the robber or he'll get away.

  • Canibus veteribus, nesciīquīn effugiat latrī . Since the dogs are old, I don't know why the robber shouldn't get away.

  • Cum canēs latrī nem cē pis-sent, ille tamen effū git. Even though the dogs had caught the robber, he got away anyway.
