Double Verb Constructions with Object Pronouns

We have already seen some double verb constructions with the verbs dovere, potere, and volere. The sentence Io voglio andare al cinema (I want to go to the movies) is considered a double verb construction because two verbs are being used. The first verb (voglio, in this case) is conjugated, while the second verb is used in its infinitive form. When using the verbs dovere, potere, volere, and sapere in a double verb construction with either a direct object pronoun or an indirect object pronoun, the object pronoun can either come before the conjugated verb or attach to the end of the infinitive.

Noi vogliamo vederli stasera.

We want to see them this evening.

Non li possiamo vedere stasera.

We can't see them this evening.
