Being a leader means guiding a group in pursuit of a common goal. If you don't have a goal, you can't do much leading. In fact, it turns out that setting some high-level goals is not enough. You must also learn to work with the objectives of others and use goals in everything your team does. Once you set goals, you must follow through to make sure your team meets them as efficiently as possible.
