Worksheet 1: Nine Tips for Setting Intentions
This exercise is designed to help you clarify your desire to manifest an object. You know what you want, but if you were asked to describe that item in detail, could you do it? The universe will bring you exactly what you ask for, so it is important that you be specific. When you see something you want, you will perhaps remember only the general shape, maybe the color, and perhaps a detail or two. Use this exercise to establish a clear statement of your intention for manifesting a particular object with as many details as possible.
Name the category of the material thing you most desire to manifest (for example, car, house, boat, jewelry, furniture, art, musical instrument, dishware, clothing, or electronic item).
Name the specific item make or style (for example, a car might be a Mercedes S-500; a musical instrument might be a Gibson folk guitar or a Stradivarius violin; an electronic item might be a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop or seventy-five-inch plasma screen television).
What is its color?
What size and shape does it have? If you don't know, find a picture of the object you desire on the Internet or in a magazine and cut it out. Knowing what it looks like will be important for your visualization exercises.
What does it taste like? Of course, this may not be relevant to the object you desire to manifest, but if it happens to be a 100-year-old bottle of Scotch, being able to imagine the taste will be important.
Does it have a scent? If so, write down your thoughts about what it smells like (new clothes or wooden instruments may have subtle scents, for example, while a piece of china probably will not have a scent).
What does it sound like? Sound may not have relevance for some objects but for cars, musical instruments, computers, or electronic equipment, the sound it makes is an important detail.
Mentally run your fingers over the object of your desire. How does it feel? What is its texture?
Now that you have employed your senses of sight, taste, touch, smell, and hearing in order to better imagine the object you intend to manifest, write a simple declaration of your intention. Here's an example to get you started. I am elated to know that the Law of Attraction is in the process of bringing into my life the — — — — — — — that I deeply desire. I can see it clearly in my mind now (mentally imagine it) and am grateful (feel the gratitude) that it already exists in the realm of pure potentiality. I deserve this, am ready to receive it, and know that it is on its way to me and in the right moment it will manifest in my life.
