The Need to Offer Gratitude

Let sound bring you peace, exhilaration, contentment, and happiness. Use sound to draw you into a prayerful mood and guide your thoughts and feelings to create declarations of gratitude throughout your day. Listen to an inspirational vocal, a responsorial song, the chanting of hymns, a devotional bhajan, a symphony, or popular music intended to create a sense of peace or invoke the sacred. Make music part of a daily devotional walk or recite a hymn or chant as you prepare a meal for your family or friends that you want to infuse with love.

As you make known to the universe your desire to have increased confidence, heightened self-esteem, increased weight loss, a profitable new business, the perfect mate, a baby, or any of a thousand other things, remember to be thankful for the things you currently have and also use your feelings and thoughts to express your gratitude.

Some experts on the Law of Attraction say gratitude is the most powerful tool at your disposal to aid in manifesting your goals, dreams, and desires. You can certainly use music, art, affirmations, visualizations, journaling, dream incubations, and other modalities to establish an attraction for the things you want in your life, but you hasten the work of the law when your thoughts, feelings, and actions harmoniously align in an attitude of gratitude. Music can lift your spirits to lofty heights and make you feel gratitude for the priceless treasures already in your life (such as family, your spiritual traditions, a belief in God, and so forth). Art can deepen your understanding and appreciation for the past, emphasize your compassion and awe for the highs and lows of the human condition, and trigger feelings of gratitude for the aesthetic gifts in nature that are all around you.

The Secret author Rhonda Byrnes and the speakers who contributed to her mega-bestseller stressed the importance of gratitude in working with the Law of Attraction. In 2007, Byrnes wrote a follow-up book to The Secret titled simply The Gratitude Book in which she included affirmations and tools to transform your life.
