The University of Florida Gators football team credited their 1967 Orange Bowl victory with their new drink of choice, Gatorade. Dr. Robert Cade had developed Gatorade for the team, finally coming up with a concoction consisting of water, sugar, sodium, potassium, phosphate, and lemon juice. The team was able to play much longer in the warm conditions when they drank Gatorade instead of water.
