Gasket Coil

Also called the Buntline Coil, the Gasket Coil is often used to tie off excess line on a sailboat. Access to either end is not needed when finishing this coil, which means that the line used in the last tuck can be attached to the rigging.

1 After coiling the rope, pass one end several times around the middle of the coil.

2 Pull a bight of the end through the top half of the coil and over the top.

3 Pull the bight down to the middle and take out any slack.
