The Wild Ones

Count the number of wild animals, of any kind, that you see — or that you smell. (Maybe a skunk??) If you're traveling in the morning through quiet and wooded areas, you might see a deer. And trains usually go through less populated areas where there are more wild animals. You have to pay attention, though, because animals in the wild are experts at keeping themselves hidden!

WORDS to KNOW

rural: Relating to open spaces, as in the country. Rural areas are usually very far from cities. The houses are usually far apart, and you may see a lot of farms.

populated: Refers to the number of people in an area. Cities are heavily populated, which means that many people live and work there. Do you think rural areas are heavily populated?
