Connecticut was the main builder of guns and cannons during the Revolutionary War.
Two-hundred and fifty miles of shoreline on Long Island Sound and many inland lakes make Connecticut a big resort state, too. What is the Long Island Sound? It is just part of the ocean between Connecticut and called Long Island, which is part of New York state.
Suburbs are the fastest growing living area in the United States. More than 35 percent of Americans now live in suburbs.
This state is part of New England. As one of the first colonies, Connecticut still has many old houses and buildings built in the 1700s and 1800s. Connecticut has lots of suburbs for people who work in New York City. Its capital, Hartford, has the most main offices of insurance companies of any city in the United States.
Yale University is in New Haven. Lois' Lunch was supposedly the first restaurant in America to sell hamburgers — back in 1900!
Connecticut has the fifth highest population density. That means there are a lot of people living in a pretty small state.
