Step It Up
The very first pyramid was built for a pharaoh named Djoser in the year 2650 b.c. That was more than 4,500 years ago! This pyramid did not have the familiar triangular shape of later pyramids. Djoser's monument was constructed with six solid levels, each smaller than the next. That's why his tomb is called the Step Pyramid.
Take the six letters you find around the page. Unscramble them and form a word that means “a strong building material.” Write this word in the base of Djoser's pyramid. Remove one letter at a time to form new shorter words all the way to the top where the letter O will sit by itself. On several steps there is more than one word that can be formed.
