Hang On Tight

It's funny that today's roller coasters only run during the warm weather, because the first type of roller coaster was popular in Russia during the freezing winters! These chilly thrill rides were huge ramps made of lumber and tree trunks covered with ice. Some “Flying Mountains” were as long as several city blocks! Brave riders climbed up about 70 feet to reach the top of the ramp. Then they hung on to a cart made from a block of ice with a seat of straw!

Over and under loop-the-loop.
