We Are All Interconnected
The things you do to help the environment help everyone. It is never a wasted effort to save, recycle, and protect wild places. Air pollution does not respect borders, but blows into other states and countries. Water pollution flows into other aquifers and along other coastlines. Resources can be used up and wasted so that there is not enough for everyone. This includes oil, clean water, and land for planting food. It's important to respect the earth for everyone's sake.
Luckily, there is a lot of information about how to be green and help the environment. You can find most of it online. The Internet is another way that we are all connected throughout the world. It's a great way to get the word out about how to help and also learn new things you can do!
Cool Green Web SitesThere are many cool sites online that you can check regularly for green tips. This can help you and your family to stay informed about the good things going on out there! Always check with your parents to make sure sites are trustworthy. Here are a few cool Web sites to check out:
“The Green Guide,” put out by the National Geographic Society, gives weekly tips about staying green. Their mission is to “inspire people to care about the planet.” You can find them at
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Web site tells you about ways you can be safe while protecting the environment.
Campaign Earth gives tips on how you can live a greener lifestyle.
Recycling for Trees!
Start a bottle drive to raise money to buy trees to plant on your school grounds. Make up a flier to put up around school and town about it. This has a double advantage. You recycle bottles and cans and you plant new trees!
