A unique dip for the holidays—test your spice tolerance with the level of taco sauce you decide to use.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 8–10

  • 1 (1-ounce) package taco mix (powdered)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 (16-ounce) can fat-free refried beans
  • 1/2 (12 to 16-ounce) jar mild, medium, or hot taco sauce
  • 1 cup low-fat sour cream
  • 1 cup low-fat Cheddar cheese, shredded
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. In a casserole dish, mix dry taco mix and garlic powder with fat-free refried beans. Add layer of taco sauce. Then a layer of sour cream.

  3. Top with Cheddar cheese. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.

There Are Many Varieties of Baked Chips

It is no longer necessary to buy regular chips—most of them come baked, and taste just as good. When making dishes like nachos or tacos, use the baked chips for the nachos, and use a soft taco, rather than a hard, fried one. Save lots of calories, and lots of fat.
