Awesome Apple-Banana Smoothie
Another version of a healthy milkshake. Feel free to alternate fruits such as mango, melon or berries.
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 2
1 cup low-fat milk
1/2 cup no-sugar-added apple juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 medium banana, ripened
6 to 8 ice cubes

1. Mix all ingredients in a blender, adding the ice slowly.

A Word about Your Children’s Protein Needs
For the most part, people in the United States are not protein deprived. In many cases, due to the emphasis on higher protein diets today, Americans take in more than they need. It is quite unnecessary for children to increase their protein intake for any reason, unless recommended by a registered dietitian/nutritionist, or pediatrician—especially those athletes who think their muscles will be stronger if they keep eating protein. Too much protein puts great strain on kidneys.
