Marinated Flank Steak

Filled with B vitamins and iron, this is a great lean protein dish. Marinate overnight for best flavor. This is a delicious marinade for chicken and fish, too.

INGREDIENTS | SERVES 8–10

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

3 tablespoons white vinegar

1/4 cup onion, chopped

1/4 cup honey

1/2 cup olive oil

1 clove garlic, minced

4 pounds flank steak

  • 1. In a blender, mix all ingredients (except steak).

  • 2. Place marinade and steak in a zip-top plastic bag. Seal and place the bag on the bottom shelf of refrigerator, on a plate. Marinate several hours or overnight, if possible.

  • 3. Broil or grill 7 to 8 minutes on each side.

Children Should Avoid Rare Meat at All Costs

Research has shown that rare meat products can carry bacteria, and children should be eating meat products that are cooked through—at the very least, cooked to pink, or medium (teens and older). Medium well is even better.
