Don Haskins
FUN FACTS
Rick Pitino won the national championship with the University of Kentucky in 1996. He has been the head coach at the University of Louisville since 2001. He is the only men's college basketball coach to take three different schools — Providence College, Kentucky, and Louisville — to the Final Four.
Don Haskins set the bar high, winning 719 games as a head coach, including the National Championship with Texas Western in 1966. At the time Don coached, not all coaches were giving black players a chance to play. Don was the first Division I coach to start five black players, and his team beat a heavily favored University of Kentucky team for the national championship. In his 38-year career, Don took his team to 14 NCAA tournaments.
