The last major development in the history of Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism is the Hasidic movement, which began around the middle of the 1700s. It revolutionized both Kabbalah and the Jewish world and brought mysticism to a huge portion of the Jewish population. Though Hasidism has changed significantly since its beginnings in the eighteenth century, it has continued to be a powerful movement in Jewish religious life.
