Abraham Abulafia is far and away the most influential Kabbalist in the school of Ecstatic (or Prophetic) Kabbalah. In fact, though he was clearly influenced by mystical and philosophical predecessors, he essentially founded this Kabbalistic orientation. Abulafia's biography is full of fascinating elements. His personality was powerful, his ideas were radical and controversial, and his influence has been long lasting.
