Judaism is a religion that goes beyond a system of beliefs. It speaks to human conduct and enters into the very marrow of daily existence. There is not an aspect of human lives that it does not touch upon. Why the need for such extensive laws? What reason for so much promulgation of rules and regulations? This chapter considers these questions and explores the system of laws known in Judaism as the Halakhah.
