Perseverance Is Key
Today's job market is competitive. As a job seeker you face many challenges. If you're new to the job market, or returning after a hiatus, things will be especially tough for you. For one thing, technology doesn't wait for anyone. Even a few years of time off is enough time to make you feel out of touch with the latest computer and Internet offerings. This is why you have to throw yourself into the deep end and do whatever it takes to get up to speed. Do research, take classes, build a network of professional contacts, and generally observe what's happening in the field you've chosen.
There will be times when you'll feel overwhelmed, dejected, and unsuccessful. It's likely that you'll suffer at least a few rejections before you get an acceptance, too. But this is all part of the process, and believe it or not, you'll be stronger and more knowledgeable when all is said and done.
If you recognize this fact and keep putting sufficient effort and energy into your job search day after day, you'll greatly increase the number of opportunities open to you and ultimately find the job you deserve. After all, your job search can itself be considered your first full-time assignment. Treat it as such, and you'll reap the rewards.
