The traditional greeting and blessing given to a new couple on the occasion of their wedding is, “May you merit to build a bayit ne'eman b'yisrael (a trustworthy home among the Jewish people).” The purpose of a Jewish wedding is not just for the thrill or even the moving moments of the wedding day; rather, it is the first day of the building of a new home together “among the Jewish people.” What, though, is meant by a “Jewish home?”
