The first few hundred years after the destruction of the Second Temple and the dispersal of the Jews were a time of trials and tribulations for the Jewish people. Yet despite all of the upheavals and obstacles in their way, they persevered. One of the greatest achievements of this period was the compilation of the Talmud, a collection of Jewish law and commentaries to which Jewish scholars would continue to add material until as late as the fifteenth century.
