Historians have different opinions of life in medieval Europe; some think it was unbearably difficult, and others think that despite the poverty of most people, there was generally a high level of satisfaction with life during the whole medieval period. Regardless of which assessment is more accurate, once the Renaissance and liberated thinking appeared, there was no going back.
