One of the favorite slogans of the “Jesus People” Revival of the 1960s and '70s was “if you won't have Jesus as your Lord, you don't have Jesus as your Savior.” The Jesus freaks, as they affectionately called themselves, meant it is not enough to assent to an invitation to confess Jesus as Savior if you aren't willing to live for him. It was a restating of Jesus' own words, “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
