There is nothing quite like a Japanese party. Designed as a way for people who work together to relax, let off steam, and get to know one another more intimately, enkai (“dinner/drinking party,” “banquet”) are a common occurrence in many schools and companies in Japan. Enkai are mini-festivals, held to boost office morale, give transfers a rowdy sendoff, or to conclude a culture/sports day at school.
