Reflexive Verb Conjugations

• Carmen generalmente se despierta muy temprano. (Carmen generally wakes up early.)

• Me baño y me lavo el pelo cada mañana. (I take a bath and wash my hair every morning.)

• Anita se maquilla cuidadosamente y después se viste. (Anita makes herself up carefully and then gets dressed.)

• Mi hermano y yo nos afeitamos todos los días. (My brother and I shave every day.)

• ¿Te lavas los dientes después de desayunar? (Do you brush your teeth after eating breakfast?)

• Adán siempre se viste elegantemente. (Adam always dresses elegantly.)

• ¿Se quitan ustedes los lentes de contacto antes de ducharse? (Do you take out your contacts before taking a shower?)

• Los niños se ponen ropa cómoda para jugar. (The kids put on comfortable clothing to play.)

• Yo me siento en el medio cuando voy al cine. (I sit in the middle when I go to the movies.)

• Ellos normalmente se acuestan temprano. (They normally go to bed early.)

Track 34: Por or Para?

• ¿Por qué te levantas temprano? (Why do you get up early?)Me levanto temprano para salir a caminar antes del trabajo. (I get up early to go out for a walk before work.)

• ¿Para quién trabajas? (Who do you work for?) Trabajo para una compañía que fabrica muebles. (I work for a company that makes furniture.)

• Pasas por el parque cuando vas al centro, ¿verdad? (You go by the park when you go downtown, don't you? Sí paso por el parque cuando voy al centro. (Yes, I go by the park when I go downtown.)

• ¿Por qué te gusta ese coche? (Why do you like that car?)Me gusta ese coche por el color. (I like that car because of its color.)

Por and Para

• No me gusta este libro; voy a cambiarlo por otro. (I don't like this book; I'm going to exchange it for another.)

• ¿Tienes hambre? ¿Vamos por un sándwich? (Are you hungry? Shall we go for a sandwich?)

• Javier siempre se acuesta temprano para levantarse temprano. (Javier always goes to bed early in order to wake up early.)

• Tu propuesta es muy interesante. Para mí es mejor que las otras. (Your proposal is very interesting. In my opinion, it's better than the others.)

• Necesitamos por lo menos tres personas por equipo. (We need at least three people per team.)

Transitive or Reflexive?

• José usualmente pone sus libros en la mesa.

• María se pone ropa buena para ir a un restaurante.

• No me gusta bañarme; me ducho.

• A veces bañamos el perro.

• Tú lavas tus ventanas mucho para disfrutar de la vista.

• Te lavas las manos antes de comer, ¿verdad?

• Generalmente, nos quitamos los zapatos cuando entramos a la casa.

• Mis abuelos quitan las cosas de la silla y me siento.

Track 35: Transitives and Reflexives

• Necesito cambiar cien dólares por pesos mexicanos. I need to exchange one hundred dollars for Mexican pesos.

• La abuela canta para dormir a su nieto. The grandmother sings to put her grandson to sleep.

• Casi siempre me pierdo el tren y por eso llego tarde al trabajo. I almost always miss the train and that's why I arrive at work late.

• Carlos se vuelve difícil cuando está cansado. Carlos becomes difficult when he is tired.

• Nos quedamos en hoteles buenos cuando viajamos. We stay in good hotels when we travel.
