Condolence
In some cases, it is appropriate to use the note cards provided by the funeral home. You can acknowledge those who lent support following a death in the family by sending such notes to anyone who:
Provided food or hosted dinners
Provided overnight accommodations for out-of-town relatives
Sent condolence messages
Sent flowers or a donation
Offered other types of support, like taking a family member shopping for appropriate clothing
Even though a cash donation made in the deceased's memory will be acknowledged by the recipient, you should still send a personalized thank-you to the donor.

Personalized Thank-You Note
(Date)
Dear Pastor Dunn,
On behalf of the entire Emans family, I want to thank you for delivering the homily at Dad's funeral. We found comfort in your kind words.
Dad spoke highly of you and the work you do at the church. We now have a better understanding of why he respected you so much.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
Sincerely,
Patricia Emans Wright
When is it appropriate to send a thank-you note?
Never overlook an opportunity to thank someone. Any time you feel gratitude, you should express that gratitude in a note. Just remember that the formality of the circumstance, occasion, or event for which you are offering your thanks will dictate your choice of whether your note should be on your personal or company stationery — or if it should be hand-written or typed.
