Lemon Lime Soda Sorbet

Feel free to use your favorite lemon-lime soda here, even diet if you prefer. It won't save a lot of calories, but you can feel a little better about eating a second scoop.

INGREDIENTS | YIELD: 1 QUART

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 (12-ounce) can lemon-lime soda
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup lime juice
  1. Place the sugar and soda in a small pot, and stir over medium heat until all of the sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool and combine with the lemon and lime juice. Cover and refrigerate until cool.

  2. Add to ice cream maker and follow manufacturer's instructions for freezing.

Lemon-Lime Soda Trivia

The first lemon-lime soda was marketed in 1929, and it eventually became known as 7UP. It wasn't until years later, in 1965, that the first vending machine dispensed aluminum cans of the carbonated beverage.
