Your Creative Weaknesses

Were you able to image creatively in one or more of the five senses? It is best to identify your more creative senses before looking at those that are not as strong. Working with what you know and do naturally provides the comfort of being assured that you can accomplish something creative. When you expand your creative comfort zone, you can draw on the knowledge and ability you already have.

A weakness cannot weaken you if you use a strength instead. The goal of this chapter is for you to get comfortable creating something that is artistic and enjoyable, to satisfy both yourself and other people who come in contact with your work. Give yourself permission to do the best you can.

Which of the senses did not produce strong imagery in your mind? Can you visualize well? If not, then your strengths may be in sounds or feelings. Is your ability to image with sound strong or weak? Are you interested in musical activities, either vocal or instrumental, or do you have a poor ability to reproduce sounds? Do you draw on emotions when you are creative, or do you attempt to do everything mechanically or scientifically?

Are you comfortable in front of people, or do you prefer to be in the background? Are your senses of smell and taste good or poor? Do you imagine stories in your mind, or do you prefer to be active rather than absorbed in thought? Do you like to imagine? Are there creative situations in which you never seem to be able to do what others can do?
