Breaks and Meals

Employees who are paid by the hour are required by law to take an off-theclock meal break when they are scheduled for a specified number of hours. Check with your state regulations to see what the requirements are. Also, paid breaks of ten to fifteen minutes may be mandatory as well. Managers should make every effort to ensure that hourly employees have the opportunity to take a break each day.
