Not to be confused with the exam certification, there is no previous work experience required to earn a certificate in human resource applications. These programs will teach you a new skill, sharpen your technical knowledge, and keep you up to date with new concepts. Classes may be taken online, through a series of seminars, or at a local college or university. The most common human resource certificate topics are:

In some cases, certificate programs may qualify for college credits. Other classes prepare you for the HRCI certifications mentioned at the beginning of this chapter or count as credits toward recertification.
