Working With Your Lawyer
A good lawyer-client relationship works because both parties take responsibility for making it work. You should be able to have your phone calls returned in a timely way, for example. Invoices shouldn't contain any surprises, you should be kept up-to-date on ongoing matters, and the advice and information your lawyer provides should be accurate and practical for your specific situation.
It only makes sense to be completely honest with your lawyer, even if you know you're in a mess because of your own mistake — this is why conversations between lawyers and clients are confidential after all. A lawyer can only provide you with good advice if you share all the facts.
In return, you should be prepared to provide straightforward, complete, and accurate information to your lawyer. You also need to respect your attorney's time and pay your bills on time too.
