The health care team is divided into many categories. Primary care practitioners are those who diagnose and treat illnesses. Only those who are specifically trained and licensed in the art and science of diagnosis may do so. Once a diagnosis is made, the primary care practitioners will order and direct treatment, which will come from other health care team members such as pharmacists, nurses, and therapists. They may also solicit assistance and consultation from other primary practitioners in diagnosis and treatment aspects.
