This chapter focuses on a sampling of prominent rock and roll players who, either through their own harmonica playing or through other key efforts, brought the harmonica into popular usage as a soloing instrument in rock music. The pioneering performances created by these artists paved the way for the harmonica to become the powerful voice in modern rock that it is today. Of course, this is not a complete list, but simply an attempt to highlight some of the players who made outstanding contributions to the harmonica being accepted as a lead instrument in rock and roll music.
